The body moves in a predictably non-linear way. Madeline Black is developing a series of trainings to immerse the movement teacher into a highly focused and engaging experience to better understand these body movements and patterns.
Madeline’s approach to training is an organic process focused on precision and highly tuned movement techniques. The “Immersive” trainings are for experts in movement looking to advance their education, perception, intuition, and manual skills. Madeline escorts each participant through personal feedback on the process of working with the body. She customises each segment to match the needs and energy of the participants which provides a unique experience for each instructor.
As proud business owners and residents of Dublin 8 for the past 25 years, we’re delighted to see our neighbourhood and community be injected with a new lease of life recently. We’ve seen the changes firsthand, and the massive increase in popularity in the area. There are so many cranes on the skyline!
With change comes uncertainty though. We know change can mean additional stress or anxiety for people. Increased rents, stressful jobs, managing home life and work and getting through everything that life throws at us can be a challenge.
We have always had a focus on helping people in our studio and we have mainly done this through Pilates and movement in the past. However, the more we teach and the more we deal with people the more we realise that there is a mental health aspect to what we do too.
Time and again we see clients who are at very stressful points in their lives coming into us with increased back pain, more tension in their bodies and an inability to let go of that tension.
We are delighted to announce that Martha Peterson will be with us in Dublin in November 2017 to teach a Hanna Somatics Fundamentals Immersion Course.
This introductory course is for anyone with an interest in learning about or seeking to deepen their understanding of Hanna Somatics for their own personal education and exploration. No prior experience or training is required to participate.
Hanna Somatic Education (also known as Clinical Somatics) is a safe, gentle and common sense approach to eliminating chronic muscle pain and improving movement for the long term. It is scientifically-based sensory motor training that teaches you how most chronic muscle pain develops, and what to do to restore full nervous system control of both muscles and movement. The end result is improved awareness, balance and control, as well as efficiency and joy of movement. You learn to reverse the root cause of most chronic muscle pain – the way in which you have unconsciously adapted to the stresses of your life – so you can prevent pain and movement limitation in the future.
If you’d like to know a little more prior to booking a two day course, come to our Introduction to Somatics
workshop on Saturday November 4th at 2pm. All proceeds of this workshop go to the Simon Community.
Meredith is back to provide both workshops and Masterclasses and a Marathon Mat Class for us over the weekend 23rd – 25th June 2017. She will be available for limited one to one sessions also. Contact us if interested in booking a one to one.

Offering strength, self-esteem and quality of life to breast cancer survivors is key. Exercise may be the last thing a client feels like doing after breast cancer surgery. Exhaustion, painful swelling, and the adjuvant treatments can make them feel even worse. All they want to do is rest. In the past, that’s exactly what Doctors recommended. However, recent studies indicate a link between moderate physical exercise and improved quality of life for breast cancer sufferers. Continue reading →
