Introduction

Buff Bones® is a medically-endorsed workout that combines Pilates, functional movement, strength training, and therapeutic exercise with bone-strengthening and balance techniques to optimize the health and safety of your bones. The workout follows a research-supported design of specifically sequenced exercises, making it an entire system of bone and joint health, rather than just a set of exercises.  Toning your arms, hips, back and abs, the Buff Bones® system also improves posture, is adaptable to varying levels, and is even safe for those with osteoporosis.

Rebekah Rotstein’s Pilates for Buff Bones® Licensing Course is a 17-hour weekend course requiring full attendance as well as a written and practical exam. The Buff Bones® Licensing Course Rebekah Rotsteincurriculum offers:

• Reviews and updates on bone health and anatomy
• The Pilates for Buff Bones® workout and its methodology
• Effective cueing and imagery
• Options for varying challenge levels
• Modifications for commonly-faced conditions
• Functional movement and biomechanics overviews
• Marketing skills for your Pilates for Buff Bones® classes

Objectives

As a licensed instructor, you will receive ongoing support for your growing business, including:
• A listing on the Pilates for Buff Bones® Web site with a link to your own site
• Referral network with contact information of potential substitute instructors
• Pilates for Buff Bones® forum addressing your ongoing challenges in class or with individual clients
• Updates on bone health
• Potential exposure from traditional and social media

Prerequisites

• Having a certification in Pilates or other mind-body-related field, personal training, fitness and exercise, or a Medical qualification i.e. Physiotherapist, Osteopath, Chiropractor
• Completion and submission by email or post of the Licensing Agreement fully signed (this will be sent to you following acceptance of your registration).

Duration

17 hours over a weekend – Saturday and Sunday 27th & 28th of June 2015.

As a Pilates for Buff Bones® instructor, you will not only earn a certificate of completion; you will be a licensed instructor who has the right to use the registered trademark of Pilates for Buff Bones® and its logo in your marketing and promotional material. Does this course offer CECs?

All who attend the training will obtain continuing education credits through the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) as well as through the American Council on Exercise (ACE).

About Rebekah Rotstein

Biography

Rebekah Rotstein

Rebekah Rotstein is a recognized expert in Pilates, exercise for osteoporosis and lifetime fitness to manage and prevent pain as well as promote health and empowerment.

Rebekah is a certified Pilates instructor and the founder of Incorporating Movement, integrating functional anatomy and biomechanics principles into mind-body exercise. Based in New York City, her studio is near the Flatiron Building off Fifth Avenue. She also teaches seminars and guest presents to exercise professionals, physical therapists and the general public throughout the United States and internationally.

Rebekah’s formal anatomy education began in the sports medicine department of Smith College working as a student athletic trainer after chronic injuries ended her ballet career. She trained at the Kane School of Core Integration in New York under the tutelage of Kelly Kane, where she later served as a Senior Expert Instructor and led coursework including Special Populations as part of the teacher training faculty. She also trained with Sara Meeks in the Meeks Method of osteoporosis treatment and management for physical therapists. Her extensive ongoing study of the body includes year-long Body-Mind Centering®-based somatic coursework with Amy Matthews and immersion courses at medical schools along with six annual cadaver dissections with Gil Hedley, PhD.

Rebekah used her expertise in bone health to design the Pilates for Buff Bones ® workout, which she has presented at conferences, at Canyon Ranch in Tucson and offers annually at Rancho La Puerta in Mexico. Her written work includes “Safe Exercise Strategies and Bone Strengthening Techniques for Clients with Osteoporosis” for Hatherleigh Medical Education’s series for fitness professionals. She was diagnosed with osteoporosis at only 28 and has since improved her bone density through diet and exercise alone.
