Course Content

While traditional anatomy is static, Anatomy Trains is dynamic and interconnected like the human body which is in constant motion. Thomas Myers’ Anatomy Trains concept moves beyond mechanical ‘cause and effect’ actions of muscles to integrative relational connections of real life functional movement.

The three days are filled with movement, relevant information and practical applications that not only sound good on paper, but work well in real life.

Karin & Mumu talking about Anatomy Trains in Motion

To establish the framework in which we move we will first look at the big Anatomy Trains picture and what myofascial meridians really are. Yes, they are so much more than ‘lines’ that can be ‘superimposed’ onto exercises! We will also discuss how Anatomy Trains can serve you as a body map, giving you valuable insights into your clients’ postural and movement patterns. Discussing and experiencing the Essential Events (joint actions that engage the lines most efficiently in daily activities such as gait) rounds up the big picture.

The myofascial meridian focus is on the: Myofascial Meridians

• Superficial Back Line
• Superficial Front Line
• Lateral Line
• Spiral Line
• Deep Front Line

The anatomy and practical applications for the Arm Lines and Functional Lines are also woven in. A seamless and functional (for our purpose) lesson, representing the interconnectedness of myofascial meridians in motion is also part of the course.

She was a senior lecturer for several years with art of motion before becoming the principle lecturer, team educator and Manager of the Australian office. This has kept Mumu on her toes as well as satisfied her eagerness to continue learning and share her passion for holistic movement.
