What an amazing summer we’ve had. Hopefully you’ve all been able to get outdoors to enjoy it. We’re making the most of it. Our picture this month is of the upper lake in Glendalough in Wicklow from the top of the Spink. It’s a great looped walk, about 12-13km and well worth the effort for the views. Of course your strong Pilates legs will help you get up the 600+ steps that start the walk, but as you can see it’s worth it for the view at the top. You can get more info here or do let us know if you’re interested in joining us for a hike in the future.
At the tail end of summer thoughts turn to getting the kids back to school and also getting back on track with our own regular routines. So what better time to get yourself organised, and get back in the habit of stretching, strengthening and looking after your body? Our regular group timetables for Sept / Oct start on Monday 2nd and will run for 8 weeks. For new clients please look at our timetable, see what suits and get in touch. We strongly recommend a one to one session prior to commencing group classes. These are bookable at a time that suits you. For our regular clients please let us know if you want to hold your place for the next session as soon as you can. If you haven’t been in a while, try our Weds night Refresher course to ease back into it. We’ve lots of options this September, so all you need to do is book your place here.
Whats the difference between Mat and Reformer?
We’ve had a few queries recently as to what’s the difference between a Mat class and a Reformer class, so here’s the low down. Pilates exercises are done on either on a mat on the floor, or on exercise equipment developed by Joseph Pilates. You can see a great demonstration of most of the Pilates larger equipment – Cadillac, Chair and Reformer by Liz Taube here. If you’d like to come in and try a one to one session where you get to try all of the equipment drop us a line
Over 55s Class
Are you over 55? Do you want to get some exercise but are not sure where to start? Pilates can provide a safe way to keep you strong and supple as you age. Our instructors are trained to work with older clients to take into account issues such as arthritis, osteoporosis and knee/hip replacements. Exercises are modified and our workouts are based on safe spinal teaching techniques. If you are interested or have a group who would like to come together, please give us a call on 01 5549710 to discuss. New courses starting September 2013.
