Getting to know…Margo Hough

This is the next in our series of Getting to Know Your Instructor.

Meet Margo Hough who joined our great team of instructors here at Margo HoughLive & Breathe Pilates in 2018.

When you were younger what did you want to be when you grew up?

An accountant.

What inspired you to become a Pilates teacher?

Pilates has had a huge impact on my life and I wanted to help create that impact for other people.

What’s your favourite thing about teaching?

Working with people.

What’s your least favourite thing about teaching?

If I’m hungry when teaching it’s the pits!

What’s your favourite Pilates exercise? Why? Margo Leg Springs

Leg springs on the Cadillac- it’s the closest I’ll get to space camp.

What Pilates exercise do you like the least? Why?

Not possible. Some are harder for me but I love them all.

Describe your teaching style in less than ten words.

In a manner that clients can own the exercise.

What are your top tips for a client starting out with Pilates?

Learn the purpose of the exercise; learn how it should feel in your body; and stick with it.

What are your top tips for clients on progressing their Pilates practice?

Come to the studio regularly; have a short, daily routine at home; get to know the next level exercises so you can see where you are headed.

Who is someone who inspires you? Why?

Children (all of them), they’ve only been here a short while but they walk around like they run the place (and they have fun!!)

When you’re not teaching what do you like to do?

I love spending time with my family and friends.

Tell us one thing we might not know about you.

In a previous job in the States I organised (or planned and managed) State Funerals.

Margo is available for one to ones as well as teaching regular group classes in our studio.
