SUMMARY:Pilates for Injuries & Pathologies
DESCRIPTION:This three-day certificate course presents a Physical Therapy approach to working with clients who have injuries\, physical limitations\, or movement dysfunctions. Focusing primarily on the cervical and lumbar spine\, shoulder\, hip\, knee\, ankle and foot\, the course covers functional anatomy\, biomechanics and a review of current literature. Specific injuries and pathologies\, such as disc disease\, post-surgical conditions\, rotator cuff syndrome\, tendinopathies and osteoarthritis\, are examined. Students learn about precautions and/or contraindications for these conditions\, as well as exercise options and modifications to the original BASI Pilates repertoire. Course participants learn safe ways to work with clients who suffer from some of the most commonly encountered pathologies and injuries\, via lectures\, discussions\, demonstrations and practice.

DESCRIPTION:The Basic First Aid Course is suitable for anyone who is interested in learning or refreshing life saving skills. \nIt covers all major paediatric as well as adult emergencies and illnesses including CPR and in addition how to deal with choking.  \nWhat can you expect on the day \nA point often overlooked is that the best way of learning First Aid is “hands on”. With this in mind we developed a unique style of teaching. There is lots of interaction between the instructor and students as well as plenty of humour. \nDuring the 1 Day Basic First Aid Course Dublin you will not only practise CPR on brand new manikins; but also learn the Heimlich Manoeuvre on our Anti choking vests. \nEach participant will receive a certificate of attendance valid for 2 years. It is important to realise that many work places will require staff who hold a valid First Aid certificate.

SUMMARY:BASI Pilates Matwork Program
DESCRIPTION:Our 2021 BASI Pilates Mat Program will be delivered over various online and in studio dates from April\, 2021 to June 2021. A mixture of online lecture and review is provided as well as in studio hours. \nThe Matwork course is a stepping stone to the full comprehensive course. The course introduces people to the foundations of Pilates. Students study the full complement of Matwork exercises (basic to master level) and the integration of small apparatus into the program. BASI encourages students to use this program as a springboard to the Comprehensive Program.

DESCRIPTION:What do conditions like Endometriosis\, Pudendal Neuralgia\, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Coccydynia have in common? Or Vulvodynia\, Interstitial Cystitis or Bladder Pain Syndrome? \nThey all fall under the umbrella diagnosis of Chronic Pelvic Pain – a syndrome that affects millions of women worldwide. \nWhat do we as movement specialists need to know about these conditions individually and collectively? \nDo you know how to screen and when to refer on to specialists? \nIs there evidence to support the use of therapeutic movement and mindfulness to decrease pain\, increase function and help restore self efficacy? \nWhat sort of indications\, contra-indications and precautions do we need to be aware of? \nThis one day workshop will give a brief overview of chronic pelvic pain in women and how we can safely and effectively use our skills as movement specialists (whether we’re from the world of physio\, yoga or Pilates). \nThere will be a mix of lecture presentations\, with a review of the relevant functional anatomy and practical movement sessions\, which will give you a toolbox to discuss these issues with clients\, a checklist of red flags for pelvic floor over activity and movement strategies to help women with chronic pelvic pain on their journey to return to health.
