Meet Katie Holmes Katie Teaserwho many of you will already know as one of the recent additions to our team at Live & Breathe Pilates.

The usual diverse list of dreams: housewife, ballerina, lawyer, politician, teacher, writer, singer…

What inspired you to become a Pilates teacher?

Other teachers who created a huge sense of wellbeing and strength for me. Also a broken back after a car accident had a lot to do with it too!

What’s your favourite thing about teaching?

Seeing clients take the tools I share with them to improve their wellbeing, their mood, their posture, whatever it might be.

What’s your least favourite thing about teaching?

Wearing leggings constantly!

What’s your favourite Pilates exercise? Why?

I’ve always loved short spine on the reformer, it’s relaxing and has loads of learning in it.

What Pilates exercise do you like the least? Why?

Only those taught badly or for the wrong reasons.katie-plank

Describe your teaching style in less than ten words.

Attention. Natural. Awareness. Process. Fun. Exploration. Creative.

What are your top tips for a client starting out with Pilates?

Patience. Breathing. Concentration.

What are your top tips for clients on progressing their Pilates practice?

Play. Explore. Breathe deeper.

Who is someone who inspires you? Why?

Liz Bussey, my Polestar Pilates Educator, she taught me almost all I know, and emanates patience, integrity, intelligence and fairness.

When you’re not teaching what do you like to do?

Be outside, the Phoenix Park, the Wicklow mountains, even the streets.

Tell us one thing we might not know about you.
I’m a private person but a very dry vodka martini might help to reveal more….

Katie is available for one to ones as well as teaching group classes in our studio.
